Dress finished!

Well on this page anyway!

I have filled in the last bit of background at the top and the random stitches of the colour I was missing.
The dress is still missing the white but I will be doing that when the whole piece is finished.
Next up is the black frame and draping fabric which I will be stitching at the same time. Hopefully the next update will be a page finish!

When I have finished this page I have been considering putting her away for a few months. I would like to work on some Xmas designs while its not too late and in the new year will be starting another HAED possibly Middle Earth or Forest walk SK. I have never worked in a rotation before but was thinking of working on a new one until August then returning to Yule Fairy

Yule Fairy

Good morning! How is everyone? I have a quick question before i forget :
Does anyone know of a fabric pen that has a small enough nib to be able to grid on 25 count fabric? The gridding pens I have are way too big to be able to grid clearly.
As I’ve seen a lot of people sharing snow pics I thought I would share mine. We had snow yesterday morning. Now I should point out now it was extremely pathetic more like a light sprinkle. We didn’t even have a snowball fight, which sucks. Hopefully we will have some more overnight.

Connor rather unimpressed

My thread pack for “Yule Fairy” arrived today, I was so excited. Head on over to Cross stitch Heaven. I love how it’s all pre-sorted and kept together by a key ring. Delivery was fast and the lady was lovely J
I hope to make a start tonight by doing the first 100 squares. I won’t get much done on it this week though as I am helping out at Dreamdragons this weekend. We have shows Friday, twice on Saturday and Sunday then the following Sunday. I’ll be doing front of house as I’m not allowed to lift anything heavy. Lots of showing people to their seats and making drinks. I’m quite looking forward to it. We are taking Connor to see the show on Saturday morning. Its gonna be so much fun. My dad, granddad, aunt, and a few members of family and of course close friends will all be in it. My dad and granddad are playing a double act. There terrible when they get together they both suddenly become little children and spent the whole time they are together mucking about. It’s so much fun to watch!

New start
I’ve made progress on bubbas blanket but not enough to warrant a picture. 5 rows seems like nothing when I laid it out to take a pic lol

Grab a cuppa , lots of pics :D

Wow over a week without a post. Apparently January isn’t our month. My mum ended up in hospital for a few days but she’s at home now and slowly getting better. She had a small accident and her pain killers stopped working so her body went into shock and started shutting down.
PROUD MUMMY WARNING! : Connor is now potty trained during the day!!! His been almost 2 weeks without an accident. He is still wearing night time pants at night but has used the potty a few times. I was starting to get worried as he is due to start primary school in September. So glad it’s finally happened lol
So first up is a bit of progress on “Tribal dragon” the new bit is part of the head.

Next up is Connors 2nd pic with Santa. A local social club does a child’s party every year, they are really amazing.

I have had another scan now that I am over 3 months I can start to relax little. This is our little baby looking like a baby and not a blob!

Yesterday me and Connor made some yummy cakes. We had to colour in the cake cases and I got told off for going outside the lines!

Soon I will have a new start! It’s a Jessica Galbreth stocking. I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it on HAED but have put off starting. I plan on doing this for my mum as a Xmas present, although she might get it next year, I don’t want to under estimate how long it will take. I also want to do a xmas stocking for the new arrival but the one I have chosen is a simple cartoon one with snowmen...it’s so cute.

New Start - Tribal Dragon

I have finally kitted up “Tribal Dragon” by Sparklies. I brought the chart ages ago but had to concentrate on other pieces before I could even think about getting started. I have chosen different fabric then what is suggested. I love the red fabric but thought it might be a bit scary for my son .He is mad about dragons so this will properly end up in his bedroom. It took me forever to choose this fabric and by the end my partner refused to even look at any more fabric pics.

I have spent a good 3 days just doing the gridding. Its drove me mad and I have had to remind myself constantly that it is so worth it. I haven’t gridded like this before and it was a lot slower than the way I normally grid. But looks so good. Does it always take that long?  Tomorrow I will be starting the dragon! I can’t wait. I have decided to name him “Smaug”, the dragon from the Hobbit.

Happy Dance!!!

A new baby is finished. Well the stitching is. I plan on making this into a pillow, which was my partner’s idea! I just have to wait till I have the pennies for the material.  I would love to say thank you to the 2 very kind ladies that sent me the key chart for a new baby after I had lost mine. Without their help I wouldn’t have been able to finish. I randomly emailed around 9 people I have never spoken to before and asked for the colour symbol part of the chart and I received emails from these 2 lovely ladies. If you every see this you are both STARS!!!

So the million pound question is...da da da...what do I stitch now?

I still have black rose to finish, tribal dragon I could start in a week or so (I’m just waiting for the hand dyed fabric to be delivered). There’s elegant kimono but it’s just not calling to me. Call of the wilderness isn’t tickling my fancy and hidden spirits isn’t screaming” finish me finish me”. I have a few small Xmas kits but there my travel pieces so I don’t want to spoil my travel time. I was thinking that black rose would be best but I need to lengthen the fabric as I started too high. So I might attempt that in a little bit.

Don’t forget I have a giveaway going on it will run till the 30th. If you wish to enter then please comment on the giveaway page. I will be adding a few more little bits to the giveaway. Once this giveaway has ended I will be holding a xmas giveaway which I must admit I have already started collecting for (please don’t tell my partner :P )

I have had my new framey thing turn up. It’s a q-snap frame. I saw that quite a few of you use them and I have to say it is heaven! So easy to hold light, chunky. The only problem is getting the fabric taught but my wonderful other half has that duty now

Spreading the love

Hi everyone, just a quick post to say hi and share a bit of love

Have you checked out Cross stitch heaven it’s amazingly cheap, easy to navigate and even makes up HAED thread packs! If they don’t have the one you’re after just send them an email and they make it for you! This is so amazing I found that sorting out what threads I needed was a nightmare on “Strength” and I know a lot of the blogs that I follow do a lot of HAED this is my idea of heaven!

It was my blogverasy on the 14th so I am doing a giveaway. If you haven’t noticed already I have made a separate page for giveaways, you should be able to comment on there. You can also comment on the post that I announced it, on the new page or email me. My email address is at the very top on the right. The more entries I receive the more stash ill add to it.

I am just waiting on some hand dyed fabric from Sparklies which is looks amazing, and this will be the first time I have used hand dyed fabric , then I’ll be starting a new project. I’m so excited about this. I won’t have a time limit on it so I’ll be able to enjoy every stitch. I don’t know how I’m going to finish it as it works out as a very big design but I have months to dream about it, don’t you just love that feeling.

Stitching Frenzy

This week I surprised myself how much progress I made on strength. I think it’s because I wound myself up so much over my last blog post I have been in a stitching frenzy .it doesn’t look like I have done much, but I have made loads of progress it just doesn’t show that much. Mainly filling in gaps of the green.

Some filling in

More filling in
I have been thinking about how much bigger this design is then I thought it would be. It’s so much bigger than any bookmark I have used and certainly bigger than most of my books. I am now toying with the idea of framing it and using it as a wall piece instead. I have never framed anything before so it will be a new challenge
Flowers!!

I have flowers! If you have followed my blog for a while you may have picked up on the fact that I love gardening, but cant for the life of me keep anything alive for long. One of the plants I thought was almost dead has flowers!!! YAY ME!!!
The kittens are now 8+ weeks old and this week 3 of them will be leaving to climb a whole new set of curtains. I’m going to be glad of the peace but I will miss them when they are gone.
Who would of thought a folded down push chair would be so comfy?

I have been having problems with commenting on blogs. I don’t know why but I’m going to get my amazing boyfriend to have a look later tonight.
I have been “stashing” and once all my orders turn up I will tell you more about what I got. I have found some amazing pieces mainly charts but some other wonderful bits and pieces.

I stitched!

Hello Fellow Stitchers.

I have stitched! Not alot but a little. I have no pics for you at the moment, as they are on my hard-drive at the moment, due to a re-install. I should be able to post them tommrow.

This week me and Connor went uptown in the search for childrens cross stitch. We found a few but nothing amazing. The only place i could find them was in Wilkosons, not even the two needlework shops up there had them. They had tapersty style ones but not cross stitch. I was quite dissapionted. We also brought a "Sow your own hat kit" which is made of foam, I think it could be fun to do.

Naughty Naughty Naughty

I’ve been naughty.  I’ve brought 3 new patterns. Technically it’s not my fault. If Heaven and Earth designs didn’t have sales so often then I might be more inclined to behave. But how is a girl like me meant to resist when they are selling there patterns so cheaply? It would be almost a crime not to get at least a couple. So here are the new additions:

I started black rose a few days ago and have almost finished the first page already. just need to go back over the mapping i have done. It stitches up so quickly. I love it I have had a few ideas how to finish it but would love to hear your ideas on how to finish any of the designs.

Its back!!!!

Woooo new cross stitch arrived today along with some small hoops I ordered form eBay. So I got stitching as soon as possible. Literally minutes after our house was viewed. As were looking into moving. I got straight into it.  Here is my progress so far. As its all half stitches at the moment progressing really quickly. I can’t wait to get stitching again tonight after we go to view another house who is interested in swapping. I think my mojo has returned whooooo

I have also have read that a lot of people stitch while travelling. Over the last few nights I have put together a couple of small cross stitch bags to take on trips with me. Little projects I should hopefully be able to finish in one or two journeys. I’m looking forward to trying them out on the next big trip I have to take to London for hospital appointments.

Monday, 14 March 2011

There’s not a whole lot of stitching to show so I won’t upload a pic. It’s got a little bit more blue then last time.
I found I have been getting bored with doing this, it’s started to make it progress really slow. So I have brought a new cross stitch which I plan to rotate maybe on a monthly or weekly basis. I notice that a lot of stitchers have a rotation plan, but I have no idea where to start at the moment.  Hopefully I won’t lose the will to stitch anymore.

This is the new cross stitch I brought: Hidden Spirits
I have been wishing for it for ages, although I wasn’t willing to pay the prices I had found it for. I spent a couple of hours looking around on eBay and found it! More than half the original price I have seen, well worth the time looking about.

In non stitchey news my son had his lovely hair chopped off today. I was almost in tears when the hair dresser took the first snip. His had trims before but never a cut like this. He behaved so well, if you ignore the fact he was flirting with the lady that done his hair. Here are the before and after pics

Before, look how beautiful it is.

New additions

So there been a lot of changes. 2 new pages. A couple of deliverys. I love my postman.
I ordered a scroll frame from eBay. Very fast delivery. It’s not keeping as taught I wanted it but that could just be where I haven’t used it before I have been a little gentle with it.

Also the threads I ordered from Rosace Embroidery threads delivered. For free! Yes a freebie. 3 skeins of my choice. There are great. Quick go grab yours......
I’ve been making good progress but put wont pics up tonight as I’m shattered, so I’ll save them for tomorrow.

My new frame arrived!!! Instructions would have been helpful but I managed to piece it together. I have been using it for 2 days now and it has doubled my stitching time. My posture is better and I have a free hand so I can treat myself to a cappuccino and still carry on stitching.
I mucked up on “Elegant Kimono” so I had to undo about 500 stitches while whimpering into my cappuccino. It was so frustrating. But I managed to catch up very quickly and have replaced the stitches I took out. So it’s all good. The colours still amaze me. I think it will always. Even after it’s framed.

Elegant Kimono

Yesterday my new project came through. It’s from dimensions and is called “Elegant kimono” I choose it as I loved the colours. I started stitching yesterday afternoon as my son was at nursery. And then continued later then I hoped last night. Its just the colours are sooooo pretty I don’t want to put it down. The colours don’t really show up properly in the photos but they are fantastic

hmmmm

What inspires you to do a cross stitch? Is it the colours? Is it always a theme? Do you only cross stitch for gifts? Will you buy expensive charts or kits or do you shop around?

I like to cross stitch unusual designs. Colours play a big part in what I choice to do. I have problems to tell between similar colours. I tend to shop around. It has taken me nearly 4 hours today to buy a new kit and a floor frame. I have been after a floor frame for years but I haven’t either had the room or the money. Today I said sod it!! And I brought one from an eBay shop. I have only ever used a large hoop. I find it hell to hold as I have problems with my hands and wrists. So I am hoping the floor frame could at least double my stitching time.

Do you use a floor frame? What are your experiences? How do you choose the next cross stitch you do?
