I ordered a scroll frame from eBay. Very fast delivery. It’s not keeping as taught I wanted it but that could just be where I haven’t used it before I have been a little gentle with it.

Also the threads I ordered from Rosace Embroidery threads delivered. For free! Yes a freebie. 3 skeins of my choice. There are great. Quick go grab yours......
I’ve been making good progress but put wont pics up tonight as I’m shattered, so I’ll save them for tomorrow.

My new frame arrived!!! Instructions would have been helpful but I managed to piece it together. I have been using it for 2 days now and it has doubled my stitching time. My posture is better and I have a free hand so I can treat myself to a cappuccino and still carry on stitching.
I mucked up on “Elegant Kimono” so I had to undo about 500 stitches while whimpering into my cappuccino. It was so frustrating. But I managed to catch up very quickly and have replaced the stitches I took out. So it’s all good. The colours still amaze me. I think it will always. Even after it’s framed.

Elegant Kimono

Yesterday my new project came through. It’s from dimensions and is called “Elegant kimono” I choose it as I loved the colours. I started stitching yesterday afternoon as my son was at nursery. And then continued later then I hoped last night. Its just the colours are sooooo pretty I don’t want to put it down. The colours don’t really show up properly in the photos but they are fantastic

hmmmm

What inspires you to do a cross stitch? Is it the colours? Is it always a theme? Do you only cross stitch for gifts? Will you buy expensive charts or kits or do you shop around?

I like to cross stitch unusual designs. Colours play a big part in what I choice to do. I have problems to tell between similar colours. I tend to shop around. It has taken me nearly 4 hours today to buy a new kit and a floor frame. I have been after a floor frame for years but I haven’t either had the room or the money. Today I said sod it!! And I brought one from an eBay shop. I have only ever used a large hoop. I find it hell to hold as I have problems with my hands and wrists. So I am hoping the floor frame could at least double my stitching time.

Do you use a floor frame? What are your experiences? How do you choose the next cross stitch you do?

stitchers block...grrrrr

Lately I have been really struggling to keep up with any sort of stitching. I keep getting confused with the charts, where I have stitched and haven’t. It’s driving me mental.
In “Call of the Wilderness” I have had to change the order of the way I had hoped to work. I’m missing a couple of threads , and as I am really crap at telling different colours apart ,I have decided to buy them again instead of struggling and eventually getting it wrong.
I am hoping to get back into the swing of things by the weekend.

Return to a old project - Call of the wilderness.

After finishing the Xmas stocking, finally. I decided to give the previous project another go. I needed up taking the old project to my local craft shop and asking the lady to sort out everything I needed as I didn’t have a clue which threads I had used or would need ,to start again. I also got a lot more fabric which I plan to use in future random projects.
So I got my fabric and threads. I started that night; I was too excited to wait. I marked a grid out. The lady in the shop said it would be best to do a small grid around the main part of the picture then work my way out. So as the wolf is the main part of the picture I marked out the grid surrounding it with cotton and slowly started my first stitch.  I started the 29th December 2010. I have been pretty much glued to it every spare moment in my free time. I am hoping to finish by tomorrow night. Then move on to the second smaller wolf, the two big trees in the fore ground ,then the line of trees behind them, then it would be pretty much filing in the sky and floor. Then the dreaded outlining.
I haven’t got a time limit so I am thinking of this as an ongoing project, while I try other things such as making my own cross stitches, smaller projects and maybe some crocheting, if the feeling takes me.
I have been thinking of making my own cross stitch as I feel like a challenge.  I plan to do a couple of pics I have come across that I haven’t seen cross stitched yet. Mainly terry Pratchett, gothic, and some really weird ones. So hopefully I will find it more rewarding once I have put the first one together, I plan to ask the lady in the shop about how to go about it.
