Stitching, Swearing and progress... Eventually!

Urghh i'm a bad blogger! The comp died so have only just got round to updating properly.

I have made progress on Tribal dragon.
Here it was when i last updated.
A bit of progress on the wing
 Half the wing done
I was really panicking about the two edges not meeting up. I told myself that i was being silly and everything would work out.
I checked and doubled checked while stitching, so what could go wrong?...

Yep..... i screwed up...
Then to make matters (and my already fragile nerves) worse while unpicking where i *think* i went wrong, the thread i was using stained the fabric! STAINED IT!!! I could have cried! Thankfully the lady that dyed the fabric was amazing.
After a good scrub, its hardly noticeable...except i know its there :(
 All correct!
And that means that the wings are finished! I'm already working on the body and will update when i have made some good progress with it.

A rare chance to stitch during the day with my little helper

Esmai snuggled up for almost 30 mins ( a life time for a toddler!) and helped me stitch. She held my chart, helped me count, well upto 3 anyway, and made sure i didn't get distracted by eating my chocolate for me!

I love it when my children take a interest in my hobbies. I remember sitting with my Nan as she stitched. She taught me, maybe one day Esmai will want to learn :)

Wing finished!

I had to frog part of it, i cant work out where i went wrong, but it looks close enough. Im very happy with him. Now onto wing 2! Im not looking forward to pulling out the gridding, which took me nearly 3 days to grid up! I have no where to put this when i have finished, would it be totally insane of me to decorate a entire room around this one piece of stitching? It would infact be the very first piece of stitching that would be have ever been displayed in my home and the first thing i have stitched for myself!

Nearly sorted....

Here is my progress on Smaug (Tribal Dragon) not as much as i had hoped but i will get to that soon...

His wing is coming along nicely, i've had a small cock up with how i enlarged the chart so i am have to work on what i can and will be coming back to the bits i have missed out when i get a new printer (tomorrow) as its my birthday on Wednesday!

The move was a nightmare from start to finish! It was a mutual exchange in the same housing accosiation so should have been straight forward and simple, it would have been if my housing officer hadn't taken a disliking to me. She dragged things out for as long as possible, giving information to the other swapper upto 2 weeks before she told me.

The day of the swap i got a message saying not to load anything on the van yet as the lady we was swapping with wasnt sure if she was going to move as she still owed rent. (which she told us had been cleared off weeks ago)
The move started 3 hours later then agreed, which meant i wasnt able to clean her house before we moved in, she had a dog and my son is allergic to dogs.

My mother in law was looking after both the children, i got a phone call half way through the move saying she had lost my 2year old daughter for a little bit but eventually found her, but she would like to bring the kids back soon as she was tired- she has a lot of health problems.

The first night we was here there was a massive argument between the neighbours on either side of us, which ended in the police being involved.

The house in a worse condition then we was lead to believe, only having been able to do 2 house visits before the moved happened we didnt pick up on any of the problems. It also hasnt helped the entire house is wallpapered in 2 layers of lining paper. The HA is now refusing to do any work as its a old house, and i have found too many problems with it, i should lower my standards and be happy. The front and back doors was falling off(literally hanging off) There's cracks and all the plaster in the house has blown. All the windows leak, we had a massive water leak the first night we was here, the floorboards in my daughters room (she now has her own room!!) none of them had been nailed down.  The ceiling in the hallway has started to fall down. The house is a  mess, we have no money to sort it and the HA is refusing to do anything at the moment. We have a inspection on my birthday, lets hope is goes well!!

The kids have settled well. Esmai moved into her own room for the first time the first night we was here. Shes taken to it very well and i cant wait to decorate it. Connor has made friends of different ages, he is constantly playing out the front at the first chance he gets!

Return of Smaug!!! ( Tribal Dragon)

After Finishing Yule Fairy i have decided to continue working on Tribal dragon by Sparklies. I have only done a little partly as the holes are so small and i need my eyes testing.

What it looked like when i stopped
How it looks now

I dont know how far i will get with this before he has to go away ( were moving in a few weeks) but hopefully i can get a good chunk of the wing done.
I am planning on treating myself for my birthday and getting the threads for one of my HAED designs but its going to be awhile because of the move. I also need to choose a new chart as part of HAEDs reward program, i just dont know what!!

Feeling frazzled

I have done a fair bit of stitching though it doesn’t really show as the stitches are so small lol.
I had planned on updating a little while ago but thought it would be better to wait till after half term has finished. Is anyone else completely frazzled by the end of half term?
We have been really busy. We had Mandeville the class mascot to stay and took him on lots of fun adventures. Baking cakes, the zoo, and the park, friends and families houses. We only had one day (after the zoo) where we did nothing.
We have also been looking into doing a mutual house exchange-our 2 bed for their 3bed. But after lots of viewings and us signing all the paperwork she changed her mind L
So lots of pics:

Xmas

Hello. I hope everyone had a great Xmas, we did!

The kids loved it and Esmai done very well at eating tearing the paper. Connor was well and truly spoilt, main presents included a guitar and the whole Octonaughts set, walkie talkies, ben 10 toys, remote control cars and battle tanks!!

I got loads including my very first ring sling, which is taking some getting used to. Perfume, a tablet (when it turns up), hair dryer and straightner set, and a very pretty watch.

Esmai had a chance to finally wear her Xmas nappy (which I brought months ago) It says “Be naughty save Santa the trip” so so pretty!

Dinner was lovely cooked by my partner, way too much food and I even had a cheeky glass of wine hehe

I have started working on “Tribal dragon” again. No time limit this time just taking it nice and slow and enjoying it. I’m struggling with the size of the stitches but then again I’m due an eye test.

Grab a cuppa , lots of pics :D

Wow over a week without a post. Apparently January isn’t our month. My mum ended up in hospital for a few days but she’s at home now and slowly getting better. She had a small accident and her pain killers stopped working so her body went into shock and started shutting down.
PROUD MUMMY WARNING! : Connor is now potty trained during the day!!! His been almost 2 weeks without an accident. He is still wearing night time pants at night but has used the potty a few times. I was starting to get worried as he is due to start primary school in September. So glad it’s finally happened lol
So first up is a bit of progress on “Tribal dragon” the new bit is part of the head.

Next up is Connors 2nd pic with Santa. A local social club does a child’s party every year, they are really amazing.

I have had another scan now that I am over 3 months I can start to relax little. This is our little baby looking like a baby and not a blob!

Yesterday me and Connor made some yummy cakes. We had to colour in the cake cases and I got told off for going outside the lines!

Soon I will have a new start! It’s a Jessica Galbreth stocking. I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it on HAED but have put off starting. I plan on doing this for my mum as a Xmas present, although she might get it next year, I don’t want to under estimate how long it will take. I also want to do a xmas stocking for the new arrival but the one I have chosen is a simple cartoon one with snowmen...it’s so cute.

typical lol

I would have had an update for you sooner. I had grand plans to stitch like a devil and have an amazing progress pic for “Smaug” but I couldn’t find any DMC 310!!! I know right.... I had at least 4 skeins of it the last time I checked and now nothing! I searched everywhere and turnt the house upside down. In the end I have admitted defeat and accepted that I must have run out.  So as I couldn’t work on Smaug I started a new baby blanket for baby number 2! I was gonna hold off for a little longer but I had nothing to work on (other than the 6-7 WIPs in my stash) so I started something new. I’m doing Tunisian Crochet which has to be one of my favs. So easy and quick so here’s a pic after about 2 hours. This is “freestyled” meaning I had no plan and I haven’t counted at all. I just went with the flow.

New Start - Tribal Dragon

I have finally kitted up “Tribal Dragon” by Sparklies. I brought the chart ages ago but had to concentrate on other pieces before I could even think about getting started. I have chosen different fabric then what is suggested. I love the red fabric but thought it might be a bit scary for my son .He is mad about dragons so this will properly end up in his bedroom. It took me forever to choose this fabric and by the end my partner refused to even look at any more fabric pics.

I have spent a good 3 days just doing the gridding. Its drove me mad and I have had to remind myself constantly that it is so worth it. I haven’t gridded like this before and it was a lot slower than the way I normally grid. But looks so good. Does it always take that long?  Tomorrow I will be starting the dragon! I can’t wait. I have decided to name him “Smaug”, the dragon from the Hobbit.
