Stitchey post

Hello my lovelies
The next update will be a progress pic! I got my order through from “cross stitch heaven” this morning and have spent the day kitting up my new project. Its “Tumbling snowmen” I’m not sure who designed it. It will be for my daughter for her first Christmas. I’m actually rather excited. I will be starting tomorrow as tonight I have been playing with sewing machines. My normal little one is missing a piece after I lent it out to someone so I have borrowed my mum’s old manual machine. I have fallen in love with this. It used to be my great-nanas. It’s amazingly heavy, I can’t move it by myself, it’s very old and oh so pretty. There’s something rather nice about using something that is older then you are! Anyway to try it out, being the first time I have ever used a manual machine, I hemmed the linen for my daughters stocking, and made my first pair of breast pads!

The kids are doing well; Esmai is gaining weight and is cutting her first tooth at 3 months. Connor is having behaviour issues at school but other than that life is great here!
I have been reading your blogs and everyone’s work is truly amazing

Yule Fairy

Good morning! How is everyone? I have a quick question before i forget :
Does anyone know of a fabric pen that has a small enough nib to be able to grid on 25 count fabric? The gridding pens I have are way too big to be able to grid clearly.
As I’ve seen a lot of people sharing snow pics I thought I would share mine. We had snow yesterday morning. Now I should point out now it was extremely pathetic more like a light sprinkle. We didn’t even have a snowball fight, which sucks. Hopefully we will have some more overnight.

Connor rather unimpressed

My thread pack for “Yule Fairy” arrived today, I was so excited. Head on over to Cross stitch Heaven. I love how it’s all pre-sorted and kept together by a key ring. Delivery was fast and the lady was lovely J
I hope to make a start tonight by doing the first 100 squares. I won’t get much done on it this week though as I am helping out at Dreamdragons this weekend. We have shows Friday, twice on Saturday and Sunday then the following Sunday. I’ll be doing front of house as I’m not allowed to lift anything heavy. Lots of showing people to their seats and making drinks. I’m quite looking forward to it. We are taking Connor to see the show on Saturday morning. Its gonna be so much fun. My dad, granddad, aunt, and a few members of family and of course close friends will all be in it. My dad and granddad are playing a double act. There terrible when they get together they both suddenly become little children and spent the whole time they are together mucking about. It’s so much fun to watch!

New start
I’ve made progress on bubbas blanket but not enough to warrant a picture. 5 rows seems like nothing when I laid it out to take a pic lol

Grab a cuppa, its a long one!

Happy Hogswatch!!

Death as the Hogfather

Remember his checking his list twice!

Death and Albert
So you better have been good! I love the Hogfather, one of my favourite books!

I promise I have had all intentions of stitching but things just haven’t worked out that way. Morning sickness is still what I seem to spend most my time trying to avoid. I’ve tried everything from lemonade (which helps a bit) to ginger biccys which baby don’t like!
On top of that Connors health has taken a turn for the worse. Over the last 4 months his started to really snore (think 80yr old 60 a-day smoker snore!) he has started to stop breathing awhile asleep which is very worrying. Sometimes as often as 3 times in 2minutes. I have been to the doctors several times and the first time was given a asthma pump for him the second a course of antibiotics, neither of the doctors looked at him checked his temp took any history or made any attempt to work out what was going on. I was told that I was being over protective.
My aunt had him over night (my first night away from him) and confirmed that something’s wrong, so I took him to the doctor again. I and the doctor don’t see eye to eye in fact we have had major problems in the past. He has no bedside manner, his English is very poor and he admits he is too blunt. But that being said he is a damned good doctor.
Anyway it turns out Connors tonsils are 9 times the size they should be. Which explains why he stops breathing, has been choking on his food and snoring. It’s not tonsillitis though. The doctor isn’t sure why it happened but we are waiting for an emergency appointment with an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. He will be having an operation to have them removed as soon as a surgeon is available which means were just waiting for a phone call. Possibly by Xmas or the New Year. If they get any worse he will have to go to A&E and have them removed by emergency op.
So as you can tell I’m pretty stressed but by the New Year at the latest he will be better.
I have been reading all your blogs and everyone’s work is amazing. I do have a favour to ask though. I have seen cross stitch pillows boarded with fabric. An example here: ~~~~ can anyone give me a very simplified way to make it? It’s for a Xmas present. I attempted to make one today but it just doesn’t seem to be going right. I have found instructions but mostly in French and the English ones were very confusing. Please help! I’ve got to get it finished and wrapped and delivered.

And please Remember be carefull who's holding the mistletoe

Hope you have a great one!

New Start - Tribal Dragon

I have finally kitted up “Tribal Dragon” by Sparklies. I brought the chart ages ago but had to concentrate on other pieces before I could even think about getting started. I have chosen different fabric then what is suggested. I love the red fabric but thought it might be a bit scary for my son .He is mad about dragons so this will properly end up in his bedroom. It took me forever to choose this fabric and by the end my partner refused to even look at any more fabric pics.

I have spent a good 3 days just doing the gridding. Its drove me mad and I have had to remind myself constantly that it is so worth it. I haven’t gridded like this before and it was a lot slower than the way I normally grid. But looks so good. Does it always take that long?  Tomorrow I will be starting the dragon! I can’t wait. I have decided to name him “Smaug”, the dragon from the Hobbit.

Spreading the love

Hi everyone, just a quick post to say hi and share a bit of love

Have you checked out Cross stitch heaven it’s amazingly cheap, easy to navigate and even makes up HAED thread packs! If they don’t have the one you’re after just send them an email and they make it for you! This is so amazing I found that sorting out what threads I needed was a nightmare on “Strength” and I know a lot of the blogs that I follow do a lot of HAED this is my idea of heaven!

It was my blogverasy on the 14th so I am doing a giveaway. If you haven’t noticed already I have made a separate page for giveaways, you should be able to comment on there. You can also comment on the post that I announced it, on the new page or email me. My email address is at the very top on the right. The more entries I receive the more stash ill add to it.

I am just waiting on some hand dyed fabric from Sparklies which is looks amazing, and this will be the first time I have used hand dyed fabric , then I’ll be starting a new project. I’m so excited about this. I won’t have a time limit on it so I’ll be able to enjoy every stitch. I don’t know how I’m going to finish it as it works out as a very big design but I have months to dream about it, don’t you just love that feeling.

Naughty Naughty Naughty

I’ve been naughty.  I’ve brought 3 new patterns. Technically it’s not my fault. If Heaven and Earth designs didn’t have sales so often then I might be more inclined to behave. But how is a girl like me meant to resist when they are selling there patterns so cheaply? It would be almost a crime not to get at least a couple. So here are the new additions:

I started black rose a few days ago and have almost finished the first page already. just need to go back over the mapping i have done. It stitches up so quickly. I love it I have had a few ideas how to finish it but would love to hear your ideas on how to finish any of the designs.

Finally a decent update!!

I apologise for my lack of chatty-ness lately. Information overload! Details can be found here
So onto the stitchey bit.
I have been making progress as you may have seen from the pictures. “Hidden spirits has been progressing well. I’m still not bored of it yet, which is a good sign. She is almost complete and will only take a little more time. I have decided to call her Mai as it is a Sioux woman’s name. It seems a bit nasty to keep calling her she or her. So Mai it is from now on. Hehe
I haven’t touched “elegant kimono “since I got “hidden spirits”. Well once to move it into the cupboard! *hang head in shame*. I will be starting it again when I have finished the cougar and Mai on “hidden spirits”

Wednesday, 2 February 2011

I have added a few more links to the unusual designs page. They might not make much sense at the moment I’m hoping to put them into some sort of list over the next few days.
I was wondering has anyone cross stitched on silk. I have a red silk dressing gown I was thinking of maybe in the future using the elegant kimono design I am working on as a back piece. Does anyone have any hints or tips?
Elegant kimono is coming along ok I haven’t been able to work on it as much as I had hoped lately.
Progress
If you have anything you think should be posted on the Inspiration, Unusal designs or Hall of fame please let me know and ill include it when i update
